With its largely solo free approach and rap inspired hooks, nu-metal recast metal and threw it into the mainstream. In this release, Al shows you how to play lead within the genre and gives you a taste of how it inspired him to be the player he is.
Part of the Dynamic Soloist Collection, and all played on a six string guitar, this release is all based around the track, “Throwdown” which bridges the gap between nu-metal’s reserved lead guitar work and Al’s love of shred.
When mastering the track and tackling the practice licks, you’ll need to make use of ideas such as ascending and descending scales, sweep picking, hybrid picking, alternative picking, double stop bends, wailing bends, mixolydian pentatonic, 7th arpeggios and intervallic lines.
Each release in the Dynamic Soloist Collection is available as part of the box set or individually and includes:
- A full solo performance
- A full slow version to click
- An overview lesson
- 10 practice licks
- 10 slow versions
- An overview lesson for each lick
- 2 backing tracks
- Full tab/notation in PDF and GP format
Add solos to an era too scared to shred, and harness the ideas that inspired Al Joseph. This is Nu-Metal Soloing. Available individually or as part of the full Dynamic Soloist Collection.
