This package is part two of a three part series (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced). We recommend that you look at the complete box set, as this is a cheaper way for you to follow the course through stage by stage. More details about this at the bottom of the page. We would also like to extend a huge thanks to Jake Willson for being our 'Stig' and sessioning on this JTC Masterclass!
Following on from the basics on the beginner pack, we continue to develop your knowledge of target notes and intervals by explaining 'why' we use them. In pack 1 we looked at applying them to a static chord but in this pack we will be taking them to the next stage by applying them to chord changes and moving harmony.
This second part of the series also looks at arpeggios within the major scale viewing the major pentatonic scale as a subset of the major scale.
The exercises in this pack take the concepts of pack 1 up a level. We start to look at playing in string groups to break out of box shapes, and increase the tempo so that you have to think that little bit quicker! Inside these licks we will be looking at a few melodic studies, some arpeggio studies and we will be working on viewing the major pentatonic scale all over the neck.
After the exercises we have licks designed to start putting everything into a musical context. They will push you a bit harder than the licks in the beginner pack allowing you to raise your game! You will be applying the concepts from the explanations and exercises and using them in a practical musical setting, but this time over the moving harmony!
Finally we have the sample solo which takes all of the concepts covered in the first and second parts of the masterclass, along with some cool new ideas to challenge you. Mastering (and genuinely understanding) the lines in this solo is your final task for this part. Studying this will require you to use everything you've learned so far and will put your new skills to the test!
As ever, we have included everything you need to practise and perfect the material in this package. There are video and audio tracks for you to watch/listen and study, accurately transcribed TAB/notation for you to analyse and master, and backing tracks for everything!
Complete Box Set:
Each package can be purchased separately but we strongly recommend starting with the beginner pack and working your way through to the advanced pack in order. This will give you the easiest, quickest and most thorough approach to mastering the major scale, and no matter what your level, you may pick up some extra information from the packages below your current ability. It's with this in mind that we have created the 'Major Scale Soloing Masterclass: Complete Box Set' which not only contains all three volumes for you to work through, but comes at a reduced price to save you a few bucks along the way!
