My name is Eric Woolard and I’m a 24-year-old guitarist and audio engineer currently living in Jackson, MS, where I was born and raised. I got my start as a musician on bass when I was around 11. My dad has played bass for most of his life and it made me want to do the same! After a year, I reached a point where I really wanted to learn some of the riffs from my favourite songs on guitar and ended up transitioning over by the time I was 12.
For the next several years I was totally hooked, practising anywhere from 4-8 hours a day most of the time. Throughout my teens, I played pretty much nothing but metal and had two different bands at different times. One of which gave me the opportunity to record in some professional studios in Nashville and Knoxville TN, which really gave me the inspiration to pursue becoming an audio engineer myself. Over the last several years, my interest in country guitar has grown tremendously, and it’s what I play the most these days!
As an audio engineer and producer for my studio, Warlord Studios, I’ve been able to work with bands from all over the world, including Australia, Japan, Russia, France and the UK. While my interests as a musician have become more focused around country, my niche definitely still lies in the metal domain, which keeps me active in both genres.
When I’m not doing music, I’m usually writing code and do quite a bit of software development on the side. I have a degree in Software Engineering and have been developing software for around 4-5 years now for anything from website backends to digital signal processing for audio plugins/instruments, and desktop applications.
