What’s it about?
Alyssa Day arrives on the JTC scene with 20 licks that combine complex technical workouts with a melodic focus. Work on techniques in a modern musical context, apply scales and challenge yourself to take on a range of rhythmic ideas.
Nail every nuance with the slow licks then put it into practice with the full-speed takes. As the solo beckons, you’ll need to draw on every ounce of stamina and be at your technical best.
With substantial lick notes, backings to practice to and accurate tab/notation, there is everything you need to nail it. This is no-holds-barred shred, done right.
What will I learn?
Shred is the game and techniques are the tools. As you go from lick to lick you’ll work on tapping, legato, hybrid picking and sweep picking. You’ll discover ideas that use each of these techniques in context and learn to combine them within one musical passage.
Alyssa uses an intervallic approach to navigate the neck and target a range of sounds, leaning on familiar concepts such as the pentatonic scale. She also gives you tips and examples for harnessing odd note groupings, which will open up new rhythmic opportunities within your compositions.
As you combine the technical with the theoretical, you’ll come out with new tactics for approaching melody. Leaning on lyricism and taking a page or two from the modern world of metal.
